Tour De Fleece??

Hi guys!!

So today's blog is about spinning, more specifically Tour De Fleece. I've been hearing about Tour De Fleece for several years now, Ravellenic's too, but like I said today we're focusing on Tour De Fleece.

Tour De Fleece is a spinning event that takes place on Ravelry while Tour De France is going. For some weird reason I always thought it was in February...silly me. Any who, I found out Tour De Fleece, TDF for short, started last Saturday, July 4th. Which is all fine,  but I wanted to join in!!! The only problem? I only have two spindles, one has a project on it from a while ago and my new spindle I got on July 2nd, had quickly been used to start an attempt at plying, a real attempt anyways. Not to mention sign up was ages ago.

So I'm unofficialy participating in TDF, my goal is to get this 3oz bag of teal fibre, (please note, I'd already spun some when this photo was taken)
spun into at least singles, and possibly plying them into a two ply. I'm still pretty new to spinning, so I'm still learning and still trying to figure out my own way of doing it. I've spun a bunch already, almost half
but I still have more to go and I just haven't been spinning everyday because of A the heat, and B dentist appointments! Overall I'm happy with my progress I've made. Though this time next year I'm hoping to be actually participating, not just on the sidelines, slightly sulking but still spinning. I'm also hoping to have one of these beauties:
This is a two treadle Lendrum, I ADORE this wheel! I got the chance to spin on one and I LOVE IT!!!

A Little About Me

HI! *waves* I'm Robyn, I'm 22 years old. I'm an avid knitter, crocheter, sewer, quilter, cross stitcher, beginner spinner. Basically if I find a new craft, I want to do it.

Knitting was my gateway craft, I started when I was twelve.I had found a bunch of my grandma's old knitting needles and crochet hooks, this was after she had passed away so I wanted to learn to be closer to her. I wracked my brain for months trying to figure out who could teach me to knit, my mom barely knew any so she couldn't help me. Now remember even though I'm 22 this was ten years ago, before YouTube became big, so unlike today I couldn't just hop onto the computer and teach myself. Finally I went to a local historical village, where my family has volunteered for YEARS, and there was a rather large booth filled with colourful fibre, yarn, and of course knitted items! After a while I had built up enough courage to go over and ask if one of the ladies could teach me to knit, which they did.

Though for the next five years I rarely knit, when I was seventeen I got the bug to knit again, but in a much hardcore way. Now, after another five years I'm going great guns and my bedroom is more of craft room than a bedroom.

I will delve more into my craftiness as time goes on but for now I think I'll think I'll just add that I'm also a MASSIVE nerd, which you all will see in time ;)

Bye for now!
Have a wonderful day full of craftiness!!
